The Benthemplein in Rotterdam has been turned into the first water-square.
Infact, the idea is simple: in normal circumstances the square has its normal function with all facilities: meeting place, sports accomodation, seating elements and greenery. However, in case of heavy rainfall, the whole area transforms into a feature to collect and temporarily hold the water, before draining away in a controlled manner. This issue is getting more important due to global warming.
Our LEDlines were combined with the ACO drainage system to give the square even more appearance.
There is a lot of international interest in this solution.
