LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are electronical conductors, converting electricity directly into light: they offer a maximum light-output for the minimal power they need.
LEDs are produced in 5 base colors: white, blue, red, yellow and green.
A most recent development is the introduction of RGB LEDs: these LEDs contain the 3 base colors (red, green, blue) into one unit. The base colors can be driven seperatly, allowing to obtain any color of the spectrum.
